Esperienza PESSIMA. Stanza prenotata e confermata con un mese di anticipo, documenti inviati e mia mail di promemoria inviata 2 giorni prima con specificato il nostro orario di arrivo. Giunte sul posto nessuno ci ha aperto. Abbiamo aspettato un'ora e un quarto dalle 17.00 alle 18.15 suonando ripetutamente il campanello e chiamando continuamente al telefono. Niente. Ho persino inviato una mail con il mio numero di cellulare, avvisando che nessuno ci apriva e chiedendo che mi chiamassero. Abbiamo dovuto cercare precipitosamente un'altra sistemazione perché stava facendo buio ed erano gli ultimi giorni di Carnevale, con la città praticamente in overbooking. Il giorno successivo dopo aver inviato altre due mail per chiedere spiegazioni e chiedendo cosa fosse successo, ho ricevuto una laconica risposta di una riga in cui lo scrivente affermava di essersi assentato "solo 20-30 minuti". NESSUNO CI HA CHIESTO SCUSA. Un comportamento inqualificabile. Mancanza di rispetto, ma soprattutto il non essersi sentiti quantomeno in dovere di porgere delle scuse.

Amazing Stay at Casa Vacanza “Pio IX”

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Venice, and staying at Casa Vacanza “Pio IX” made it even more special. The accommodation was comfortable, charming, and perfectly located for exploring the city.

A special thank you to Father Peter, who gave us a wonderful recommendation to visit Padua. It was the perfect way to end our trip! Highlights included seeing Giotto’s stunning frescoes, the awe-inspiring Basilica of Saint Anthony, and a fascinating tour of the historic University.

Thank you for providing such a fantastic experience—we’d happily return and highly recommend it to others!

Only need to press the doorbell once. I pressed it 3 times when I first arrived. It was very noisy.😂

I love Venezia and reached out to a friend who lives there, asking if he could recommend anywhere in Cannareggio I might stay for a solo trip. He suggested the Monastery's.com website and I found my dream vacation stay!||The location is easily accessible by Alilaguna - it is the first or second stop from the airport and if you've never been to Italy, a great way to get the feel of life on the "Lagoon". It is a very short, easy walk to the casa vacanza. Ring the bell and wait for Padre to come, as there is an elevator for you to use for your suitcases (the floors are old and fragile). Check in was simple, and Padre gave me a mini tour of the great room (sitting room), kitchen and my room. There is invaluable art all around, so personally I would not bring kids there. You wouldn't want to be the one everyone reads about their kid puking on a 1500's Tintoretto. Just something to thing about.||Breakfast is simple - and ample. You'll find incredible food for breakfast, lunch and dinner on every street. For art and history lovers, prepare to be gobsmacked when you enter the Chiesa Madonna dell'Orto. Titians, Tintoretto's, sculptures, chapels, ceiling frescos...and a hugely historic, loved and adored sculpture of the Madonna dell'Orto, tucked away in one of the Chapels. Sculpted in the 1300's, the spiritual and devoted come to see and put hands on this representation of the Madonna.||The sites are steps apart - see the Scuola di San Marco, the many churches (most all free to enter), vegetable and fruit markets, local restaurants, oenotecche, cichetti - all to keep you fueled while you walk the ancient stone streets, alleys, campos and courtyards. It's just under a two mile walk to get to the Gallerie dell'Accademia, Guggenheim and Institute of Science, Arts and Letters Building in Venice, Italy. ||The booking process was easy and Mark, the gentleman who worked with me was extremely responsive. I stayed in a single room with bathroom and a window that opened out onto a quiet courtyard below. Everything was clean, white, bright and I had the best nights' sleep of my life. Really. So quiet. Long may this gem and the area be that way.

We are so glad we chose to stay here for our first trip to Venice. Fr Peter was so kind and helpful. He was totally invested in ensuring we had a wonderful time. The rooms have recently been renovated and they added a small breakfast included in the price (freshly made pastries, yogurt, cereal & coffee). The location is excellent. Close enough to walk to major attractions & some excellent restaurants, but far enough away for some peace & solitude. Make sure to step inside the beautiful church attached to the monastery. We can't thank Fr Peter enough & will definitely stay here again if we ever get back to Venice.

We stayed six nights in September. Such a quiet peaceful place, far from the hyper-tourism of the Grand Canal area. It was like living in a museum. There is a small kitchen on the top floor where everyone made their breakfasts. The bedroom was small, with two single beds, but the en-suite option was well worth paying for. Don't open the window in the evening or you will get mosquitoes! We only noticed the warning notice the next day, so we'd been warned, if we'd paid attention. The Madonna del Orte church and cloisters next door are priceless, and there are excellent restaurants a few canal bridges away. And only a two minute walk to the water taxi to Marco Polo airport.

The airport boat took us to a minutes walk from the monastery guest house. You can see the beautiful church it is attached to from the boat. It's in a gorgeous quiet part of Venice away from the craziness of St Mark's Square. There's no breakfast/food provided but it's near some of the best restaurants in Venice (in my opinion!). 8 minute walk to the Grand Canal. Water taxi straight to the Lido or Murano/Burano. |Turn left out the monastery and cross 2 bridges to find wonderful restaurants next to classic Venetian bridges and the canal. |Father Peter was very helpful and gave us such a friendly welcome. |The rooms were fairly basic but clean and comfortable and there is a kitchen area if you wanted to make your own food. ||It's easy to walk straight past the front door so I've attached pictures to help find it!||Also worth noting you can't book via trip advisor but use monasterystays.com. It was easy to use and worked perfectly.
